Jordan Eagles' forthcoming solo exhibition "Hemofields" at Krause Gallery (New York, NY) is one of ARTINFO's Most Anticipated Fall Shows. Eagles' work also recently received coverage in the NYTimes: An Artist Uses Blood to Bring Life to His Works; and Time Magazine: Injecting Life into Art: The Artist Who Experiments with Blood.

This Thursday, April 28 from 6:30-9 pm, is the Visual Aid Live Art Auction, hosted by Chronicle Books at 680 Second Street. Ryan Martin's painting "Dress You Up" will be available to bidders at the auction. "Visual Aid is a nonprofit organization which encourages artists with life-threatening illnesses to continue their creative work."

Alika Cooper is featured in a group exhibition titled "100 Records" at Gallery 16 here in SF, for which 100 artists made 45 rpm record covers for fictional bands and singers. Sonny Smith is then going to compose the songs for each record.



Embroidered works by Diem Chau are on view at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art through April 3, part of the "By a Thread" exhibition. Similar works are on view at the gallery starting Feb. 4.



Jordan Eagles is featured in Re-Creation, the inaugural exhibition at the Ogilvy Chocolate Factory, Ogilvy & Mather Advertising's new gallery venture, in New York through March 31.

We are pleased to report that an edition of Gao Yuan's "12 Moons" series has been acquired by the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon, Portugal.

Works by Danielle Giudici Wallis are on display at the Oakland City Center's Sculpture Court, 1111 Broadway in Oakland, through November 13.  The show is organized by the Oakland Museum of California .  A reception will take place August 20, 5-7 pm.  Danielle will also begin a 3-month residency at the Kala Institute in September.

James Sansing is the current Artist in Residence at the San Francisco Recycling and Disposal center, aka, the San Francisco Dump. His residencey will culminate in a show in September, 2009.

Alika Cooper has three paintings featured in the 1/11/09 New York Times Sunday Magazine, accompanying an article by David Sanger on the nuclear threat frm Pakistan. You can read the article and view the works here.

Two gallery artists, Alika Cooper and Danielle Giudici Wallis, will exhibit work in the 75th Crocker-Kingsley Biennial of California art at the Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, from  January 10 - February 6, 2009.  More info here .  Meanwhile, Alika also has a solo show up at Hamish Morrison Galerie, Berlin, through February 21.

We are pleased to announce the arrival and availability of "12 Moons," a new photographic installation by Beijing-based Yuan Gao, which was recently on view at the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art.

Gallery Director Mark Wolfe will moderate a panel discussion on art, architecture and technology at the M. H. de Young Museum on Nov. 11, 2008. Panelists include local architects Brett Terpeluk and Christopher Haas, who partnered with Renzo Piano and Herzong & DeMeuron, respectively, on the new Academy of Sciences and de Young Museum Buildings in Golden Gate Park.

Apparently dissatisfied with the quality of work exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the producers of the upcoming film "When in Rome," starring Kristen Bell and Anjelica Houston, acquired a large diptych from Jordan Eagles to hang in a scene shot at the museum. D3 Productions, Inc., producer of the Emmy-winning documentary "Sketching the Silk Road," filmed the finale of the forthcoming "Interpreting Ancient Fashion" here at the Gallery on March 6. The shoot featued local fashion designers Colleen Quen and Jude Gabbard, who presented works inspired by their recent sojourn in China's Guizhou Province. And a star sighting. The documentary will air on PBS stations in 2009. More info about the project here.
